"The TEAC 3300SX is built like a tank and providing it has not been abused, should offer decades of trouble free working life. The output boards are reasonably easy to upgrade or if your wanting to use an outboard amp, such as the Bottlehead Eros tapehead preamp, the tapehead cables attach to the bias board via RCA connectors, so easy to reconnect to an outboard amp. Sound wise, this TEAC replay tapehead is pretty damn good if not too worn and does deserve better or fully upgraded p/s and tapehead amplifier electronics. I have used Panasonic FM caps and audio quality PRP brand resistors. The sound is fantastic, clarity is second to none, no hum, very little electrical noise at all. With good 'Master' quality tapes, you are very close to the musicians indeed"
