This is a top line turntable with heavy platter and fine suspension...much better than the 900x types which sells for more. The only let down is the nextel paint but sound quality is up in the top league if given a suitable tonearm. Buy one without an arm and fit a rega arm and you have a high end turntable for low budget...one of the hifi bargains of the moment if you can live with the nextel looks.
I'll let the words of my son (a musician with quite a bit of recording and mixing experience) say all that needs to be said, Dad it's like an open window...I'm hearing things I never heard before.

Have had this deck from new and is a natural partner for the PU2 arm where together they are a formidable opponent to all - the width, depth, detail and colour of information is amazing with either the Linn K18 or Denon DL103D on board.
Superb deck up to modern day standards. A lot more precise than a Linn. Mates well with Mission 774 arm. It has big wide soundstage and when correctly set up good dynamics with loads of detail.
Technik:
The original Systemdek Transcription turntable is a 2-speed, belt-driven design with 3-point sprung chassis and AC synchronous motor.
The heavy sheet steel base plate is supported on height-adjustable rubber feet, one at the centre and two at the front.
The sides of the plinth are constructed from an aluminium extrusion, damped and decorated with black and silver.
The sub-chassis of the Transcription floats on an un-damped, three point, spring suspension and carries the arm and platter assembly.
The sub-chassis is constructed from aluminium, steel and a specially damped arm plate and is free from structural resonances in the audio range.
The platter is a massive alloy unit, individually balanced during manufacture.
Completing this assembly is a 10mm, high precision spindle of stainless steel, countersunk at its foot to provide a seating for a precision 8mm ball bearing.
